目的论作为功能主义翻译理论的核心范式，在科普文本翻译领域具有重要指导意义。该理论强调翻译目的、目标受众及译文功能三大要素的协调统一，尤其适用于处理多学科交叉知识普及类文本。本研究选取美国昼夜节律研究领域专著《科学用光：以光为引，助力健康、改善睡眠、延年益寿》（The Light Doctor: Using Light to Boost Health, Improve Sleep, and Live Longer）为源文本，涉及昼夜节律、睡眠质量、健康照明方式等大众关切的科学议题。在我国大力发展科普产业，推进健康科普市场化的背景下，笔者遵循目的论原则进行翻译实践，既满足科学传播需求，又能提升公众对于倡导健康照明方式的生命健康意识。

本翻译实践报告以目的论三原则为指导，运用直译、意译、转换、增译等方法，深入剖析多学科交叉领域科普文本的翻译难点。通过案例分析，有针对性地处理专业术语、专有名词、修辞手法以及长难句。报告共分为五个部分，第一章为翻译项目概述，简要阐述研究背景、研究内容以及研究意义；第二章为翻译过程概述，涵盖译前准备、译中过程和译后编辑三个阶段；第三章为文献综述，首先介绍功能主义目的论，其次对功能主义目的论和科普翻译的研究现状进行综述，最后分析目的论指导科普翻译的适用性。第四章为案例分析，从目的、连贯和忠实原则出发，探究科普文本的翻译方法；第五章为翻译项目总结，具体分析本次翻译实践的收获与不足之处。

笔者以传播科学知识为目的，在翻译时对科学术语进行准确翻译，对复杂理论进行合理阐释，同时结合目标语的语言习惯和文化背景，运用修辞手法、四字格词语等，将抽象的科学内容具象化，使科普文本在保持科学性与准确性的同时，兼具生动性、实用性和可读性，实现科普文本的传播价值。本次翻译实践过程表明，目的论尤其适用于解决科普翻译中专业性与普及性的问题。

As a core paradigm of functionalist translation theory, Skopos theory holds a significant guiding value in the translation of popular science texts. This theory emphasizes the coordination of three key elements, including translation purpose, target audience, and functional adaptation of the target text, and proves particularly effective in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge popularization text. This study selects The Light Doctor: Using Light to Boost Health, Improve Sleep, and Live Longer as the source text, which addresses scientific topics of public concern such as circadian rhythms, sleep quality, and health-conscious lighting practices. Against the backdrop of China’s vigorous development of the popular science industry and the promotion of health science commercialization, the translation adheres to Skopos theory principles to fulfill scientific communication objectives while enhancing public awareness of health-conscious lighting practices and their impact on well-being.

This translation practice report, guided by the three principles of Skopos theory, employs methods such as literal translation, free translation, conversion, and amplification to conduct an in-depth analysis of translation challenges in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary popular science texts. Through case studies, it addresses specialized terminology, proper nouns, rhetorical devices, and complex sentences in a targeted manner. The report is composed of five chapters: Chapter 1 outlines the translation project, including its background, content, and significance; Chapter 2 details the translation process, covering pre-translation preparation, in-process execution, and post-editing phases; Chapter 3 is reviews literature, introducing functionalist Skopos theory, summarizing its application in popular science translation research, and analyzing its suitability for guiding such translations; Chapter 4 presents case studies under the principles of skopos; Chapter 5 concludes the project by summarizing insights and limitations.

Guided by the goal of scientific knowledge dissemination, the author accurately translates scientific terms and reasonably applies theories during the translation process. At the same time, by combining the linguistic habits and cultural background of the target language, and using rhetorical devices, four-character phrases, etc., the author makes the abstract scientific content concrete. This enables popular science texts to maintain scientificity and accuracy while also being vivid, practical, and readable, thus realizing the dissemination value of popular science texts. The practice demonstrates that Skopos theory is particularly effective in resolving tensions between specialization and accessibility in popular science translation.
